Galgo Medical SL is a Barcelona-based company that emerged from the Department of Information Technologies (DTIC) of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain). It was incorporated in July 2013 and co-founded by Luis Serra, Antoni Riu, Yves Martelli, Xavi Planes, Ignacio Larrabide, Hector Fernandez, and Ludovic Humbert.
The team developed a solid experience in developing imaging post-processing software solutions obtained during more than seven years working together at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. They were involved in national and international competitive projects and nurtured over the years close collaborations with several clinical institutions.
The shareholding team was later joined by three renowned electrophysiologists from the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona: Drs Josep Brugada, Lluis Mont and Antonio Berruezo. Mr Robert Gili joined later to provide business and financial guidance to the team.
In July 2017 Galgo Medical Pte Ltd was incorporated in Singapore to add 3D visualization and interaction capabilities to its products. To that purpose, it has engaged some of the engineers that developed the Dextroscope. It also aims to benefit from the business potential in this region. Galgo will co-fund and co-develop this technology in partnership with the Diagnostic Development Hub -DxD, a division of ETPL, which is the commercialization arm of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).
The DxD and Galgo Medical Pte Ltd have signed a collaboration agreement to start the preliminary phase of the project in 2018.
